Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in the United States. Acne can occure with clogged pores. This blockage begins with dead skin cells. Normally, dead skin cells rise to the surface of the pore and your body sheds the cells naturally. When the body starts to make sebum, or oil, the dead skin cells stick together inside the pore instead of rising to the surface and the cells become trapped. Sometimes, bacteria develops insided the clogged pore causing redness and inflammation and can spread rapidly. Acne is not restricted to teenagers. A growing number of men and woman experience acne in their 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond. Adult acne can be particularly frustrating; however, at our Dallas office we offer a variety of treatments that can address these concerns. Stay tuned for our next blog on treatments for acne.
